The entire garden is now planted and things are starting to come up. We are still waiting for the appearance of any green beans, celery, cucumbers, squash, and watermelon, but everything else is starting to grow. The garlic has taken off amazingly. Sprouted so far are: lettuce, carrots, potatoes, peas, swiss chard, beets, broccoli, kale, asparagus, rhubarb, artichokes, green pepper, tomato, chives, garlic, and basil. We have started to thin out the lettuce and had a wonderful salad already from the culled leaves.
In our compost pile, we planted some giant sunflowers (supposed to grow to 16ft) and the squash and watermelon. We'll see if it all grows - a few sunflowers have started!!
