New Planters for Out Front

We worked over the last weekend to get the planters done up for summer. The first planter is for the front steps. It looks a little small now but it should get pretty full quite quickly.

Here is Kristen finishing up the two planters that we have down at the bottom of the stairs. They were quite full once all of the plants were put in.

We also purchased four hanging baskets for the front deck. Last year we grew these from smaller 6-packs but the results were not as good as we were looking for. Now we just have to be good about watering them.

We also took the opportunity to deadhead the daffodils in the front bed. The white tulips are now all up and blooming.

Crazy Weather

We have been having our fair share of some crazy weather. First off it has been quite a bit colder then it should be. And believe it or not it has been rainier than it should be as well, it has rained the 43 of the last 45 days. The flowers are still poking through hoping that it will eventually be summer. The first pictures are of a storm that moved through.

Some hail on the walkway....
And some sun....

Sewing Project

Kristen bought a nice bench seat to put in the master bedroom walk-in closet. The seat did not come with a cushion so we bought some fabric and foam and sewed one up.

Clean up day

Things had spread quite a bit from the shelves that Kristen had everything sorted out so nicely on in the living room. So we sorted through everything and put up a new set of shelves in the corner to store items.
Everything got sorted out into the correct bins.
And labeled.

Now it looks a little more organized.

Work Started on the Sink Cabinet

We started up work on the sink cabinet unit last weekend. The first step is removing the dishwasher from its current location. Capping the water line and drain below the floor and putting down flooring in the location where the freestanding cabinet will be beside the sink unit. This is what it looked like after pulling up the subfloor.
This is what it looked like after cutting the hole a little larger (to match the plywood patch in the background). I think in this one the water line and drain have also been capped.
And here it is once the patch is put in place.
New flooring is laid down.
The cabinet base, like the stove unit. Sits on a 2X4 platform that has been leveled. Here you can see most of the pieces cut for the base. The large hole to the right of the sink bumpout is for the dishwasher.

Here it is all put together and sitting in place. I will level it this week and start on the construction of the sink unit this coming weekend. Once that is in then the dishwasher should be able to go into its final location.

Here is a picture of what the whole unit will look like. The double drawer to the right of the sink is just a panel on the front of the dishwasher.
