Backyard Wall Work

Tyler spent a little time this weekend working on the wall again. First step was clearing out all of the soil down down to 18 inches below grade. A lot of digging! Then the first couple courses are put in.
And the gravel is brought in behind them. There will be stairs on this end so each course will come in one tread.

He still has quite a few pieces that have to go back into the wall.

The bed that we put in a year ago between the house and the garage has finally filled in. Some of the hostas in here have gotten huge. We will be able to divide them when the new bed is put in at the base of the stairs.

More Sam Pictures

Kristen's parents have been here for the past couple of weeks so we have been spending time with family and our new little one. Kristen's dad was able to get some yard work and house exterior items completed but other than that we have just been learning how to be parents.

Flower Pots

With a nice warm weekend and Kristen's parents in town visiting we were able to plant flowers in the planters that are down by the road and the one that is up on the front deck.

As you can see in this photo we also picked up the hanging baskets for this year. Kristen and Sam are on the front porch.

The rest of the garden beds are also coming to life. The daffodils are all done blooming and have been cut back and the last of the tulips are blooming. With a mild winter most of the other pernnials in the beds look to be coming on strong.

Samuel's 1st house project

Tyler made a step stool for the bathroom so we can reach things on the top shelf easier. Sam helped him out - it's never too early to teach him how to work around the house!
We will probably use this when Sam gets bigger so he can reach the sink. We may need to modify it a little then though so he doesn't fall through the cutout.
